Do You Have a Growth Mindset or a Fixed Mindset & Why it Matters for Doing Business Online

Hey there, gorgeous!

I’m finally back in LA after a fun and busy weekend in DC catching up with old friends at my 20th high school reunion.

I also spent time with family and packed up a number of things I needed in LA that I had to leave behind when I first moved a couple of months ago.

I spoke to many people over the weekend about my business. These conversations reaffirmed for me that a “fixed mindset” is one the biggest blocks keeping folks from moving forward with creative ideas for their lives and businesses.

Do you know whether you have a “growth mindset” or a “fixed mindset”?

Here are some differences between the two:

  1. Growth Mindset = I can learn how to do anything vs. Fixed Mindset = I’m either good at something or I’m not

  2. Growth Mindset = When I fail, I learn vs. Fixed Mindset = When I fail, it means I’m no good

  3. Growth Mindset = When I get frustrated, I persevere vs. Fixed Mindset =When I get frustrated, I give up

  4. Growth Mindset = I enjoy challenging myself vs. Fixed Mindset = I don’t like to be challenged

  5. Growth Mindset = My attitude and effort are everything vs. Fixed Mindset =My abilities determine everything

When it comes doing business online, having a “growth mindset” is everything.

For most of us, starting and running an online business is entering a whole new world where we have to learn a new language and other skills.

You must be comfortable with learning new things all the time AND being clumsy at first. You have to be able to fail forward.

My mentor, Gina DeVee, says that “it’s always awkward before it’s elegant”.

For more info on “growth mindset”, check out Carol Dweck’s book, “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success”, here.

Did you notice that having a “fixed mindset” involves a lot of “black and white” thinking?

This type of thinking is typical of the voice of our “inner critic”. This voice of self-doubt and fear is often the loudest and therefore the most dominant voice inside our heads - especially for those of us with a “fixed mindset”.

With this in mind, I’ve created a special virtual event that you don’t want to miss…
